What Is Reading Workshop?

Reading Workshop is a method of teaching reading.

Here are some components of Reading Workshop:

1. A daily mini lesson (10 min.) on a specific reading topic
2. An individual reading time (5-30 min.)
3. Partner reading time
4. Literacy centers that include a variety of areas of concentration-from word work to art to dramatics to guided reading group time.

    Areas of concentration are on word recognition as well as comprehension. 

    Reading Workshop gives children specific tools to use in their reading strategies.
