Terhune Orchards
What a fantastic time we had! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers and to Mrs. Grace, our Science teacher, for arranging this all for us. It was perfect weather for a perfect trip! Check out our pictures below:
Our tour guide spent some time with us reviewing the farm rules before we began. She also gave us a nice overview of what we'd be covering on our tour.
The children gathered to learn a little bit more about worms.
We learned that worms have 5 hearts, which end is the head and which is the bum. It was pretty interesting!
We were told that if we wanted to be sure to get the best worms, we should jump up and down on the ground prior to digging for them. This tricks the worms into thinking it is raining. Because large amounts of rain can drown the worms underground, they head upwards to the grass and pavement. The children had a blast jumping up and down and found many worms!
A student and his mommy decide on the best place to dig.
A worm is found!! Cool!
Dig, Dig, Dig!
We make a pit-stop on our tour to enjoy the smell of these beautiful flowers!
Cheese! The girls stop to pick some daisies!
The tractor was a BIG hit!
A sure sign of Spring - baby ducks! They are a bit hard to see, but oh, they were so cute and fluffy!
The children filled their pots with soil before planting their seeds.
The children planted brightly colored zinnias. They will be so beautiful when they bloom!
We finished off our tour with a nice cold glass of apple cider fresh from the farm!
