A Unit on Poetry!
Below is the Acrostic Poem that we worked on in class. An Acrostic Poem is a poem in which one or more words are written down the left margin, with one letter per line, then using those letters as the start of each line. We used the word "Hibernation" to build from!
Here is a picture of the poem we created!
Click on the link below for a poem from Jack Prelutsky - one of the poets we enjoy very much!
His poem, "I Love You More Than Applesauce" was a perfect choice in honor of Valentine's Day!
Black History Month
In addition to Poetry, we have spent much of February enjoying lessons presented by two of our wonderful parents on famous African Americans in History!
So far, we have discussed Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Garrett Morgan, inventor of the traffic light, and Dr. Charles Drew, inventor of blood plasma banks and the American Red Cross.
Take a look at some of our photos!
Thank you to Mrs. Lagay who took all of the beautiful pictures of famous African Americans and the additional artwork and put them together for us to make books - they turned out wonderfully!
