Flyaway Beetles
Beautiful Beetles have been flying around in the Junior Kindergarten all year. When the children read the book, Flyaway Katie, by Polly Dunbar, there was a magical connection. After reading and acting out the story, the children created brilliantly colorful watercolor gardens. What was missing? Our Beetles of course! The children went right to work to paint a dazzling array of these amazing insects. When the paint dried they began to flitter and flutter and whoosh!, they flew right into the childrens' painted gardens!
The preceding paragraph describes the true creation story of these paintings, "Flyaway Beetles."
This year, the preschool theme is "Through the Garden Gate." Each class is represented by a friendly mascot, such as ours in Junior Kindergarten - the Beetle!
