April's been great fun for us! We completed our book shelf for the auction, had a visit from a dentist, explored the nature trail and much more! Take a look!
The dentist passed around a tooth for the children to feel. We took a look at the groves in our teeth so that we are aware of how easy it is for sticky foods to stick in our teeth!
The dentist spoke with the children about the importance of brushing our teeth 2-3 times a day and rinsing with water when a toothbrush is not available.
The official "dentist outfit"!
Isn't this incredible? This is our table for the auction! The shelf looks fantastic along with all of the other goodies!
A closer look at our colorful bookshelf!
A walk on the Nature Trail! We were searching for signs of Spring...we found a few flowers in bloom and lots of buds!
Science Here We Come!
During one of our science lessons with Mrs. Grace this month, we made paper! In celebration of Earth Day, the children discussed ways in which we can better care for our Earth. They discussed recyling and most especially the amount of paper we use/waste in our JK room. To gain an appreiation of the process of making paper, the children experienced the very raw steps in paper-making. It was fantastic!
Conor picks up a fistfull of the mashed wet newsprint and works to get all of the water out.
Many hands make light work! The children work to mash all of the water out of the newsprint. The paper is being worked into a wood framed mesh square.
Working together!
The children watch as Mrs. Grace put the wet newspaper into the food processor to grind it up before giving it to the children to spread.
It's pretty gooey!
Ta-da! Our first sheet of paper!
